What begins as a simple investigation into who stabbed her, Jessica’s discovery unleashes a psychopath into her path, who damages more than just Jessica’s spleen. This location was revisited throughout the season.

Exterior

The Chelsmore apartment complex, at 205 W 15th Street in Chelsea, was used for the exterior of Sallinger’s building. The production disguised this fact by simply adding a “1” before the address on the awning. According to a credit report that Jessica brings up later, the In-Universe address is 1205 W 15th St, New York, NY, 10011, which would still put it in Chelsea. Sharp-eyed viewers may notice this building was also used as Dr Leslie Hansen’s building in Season 2.

While the production team did a good job of making the interior of the apartment match the exterior, there are a few minor inconsistencies, which lead to the realization that this location was filmed on a soundstage.

Stakeout Rooftop

In episode 5, Trish and Jessica stake out Sallinger’s apartment from “across the street.” In reality the are located on the northwest corner of the Chelsmore Apartments roof. The wall in front of the ladies, seen below, is a fake, allowing Trish to jump over it later.
