Rand Enterprises is a multinational corporation founded by Wendell Rand and Harold Meachum, which was eventually run by Meachum’s children, Ward and Joy, after the deaths of Rand and Meachum. Seen throughout Season 1, the building plays a large part in the action of the season, from the lobby to the boardroom, culminating at the rooftop in the season finale.

IRON FIST SEASON 1

Exterior & Lobby

The In-Universe location of the building is at E 46th St & Vanderbilt Ave, New York, in Midtown, but the exterior and lobby sequences were all filmed at One Chase Manhattan Plaza, 28 Liberty Street in the Financial District.

Lobby Video – Refinery

In episode 1, while in the lobby of Rand Enterprises awaiting someone to come get him, Danny sees a promotional video featuring Wendell and Harold shaking hands outside a Rand Refinery.

There are many refinery tanks around various parts of New York City, mainly Greenpoint and Long Island City. This sequence was filmed at the old Getty Petroleum plant in Long Island City (note the LIC code number on the top of the tank), prior to this tank being removed.

Executive Suites

Many of the scenes at Rand Enterprises took place in the Executive Suites (on the 45th Floor). This is where Ward, Joy, and Danny have their offices.

All Executive Suite sequences were filmed on a soundstage using Rosco SoftDrops backgrounds, according to this article.

Parking Garage

The parking garage at Rand Enterprises is seen in episode 1 & episode 6. The first time features Danny hijacking Ward’s car to get his old friend to listen to him. Later, Danny and Ward take Danny’s Aston Martin out for some investigatory work.

This multi-level parking garage is unlike anything seen in Midtown Manhattan. And that’s because it was filmed in the Queens Center Mall Parking Garage in Elmhurst. The brief sequence in episode 6 is presumed to have been filmed here as well, but it’s possible a different parking garage was used for that episode.

13th Floor

Episode 7 features Danny tailing Madame Gao to the hidden 13th floor of Rand Enterprises.

This floor was not part of the soundstage set for Rand Enterprises. It was filmed in the 28 Liberty Street building, looking west. This is also the same floor used in episode 5 where Sophia closes a heroin deal with some Russians in an abandoned call center.

Laboratory

Danny breaks into the Rand Laboratory in episode 9 in hopes of getting the drugs he needs to administer to a captive Madame Gao, which will force her to tell the truth.

This small lab was most likely filmed at Broadway Stages, but at this time that has not been confirmed.

Rooftop

The climax of the season features a cat-and-mouse game as Danny and Harold fight on the roof of the Rand Enterprises building.

For this sequence, a different building in Midtown was used; one that has the appropriate view from the rooftop. This rooftop appears to be on top of One-Five-One, the H&M branded building. During the fight, the Comcast and NBC logos can be seen on 30 Rock in the distance, while the west side of the Bank of America building can be seen behind Harold in several shots.

THE DEFENDERS SEASON 1

Danny realizes that he can use his wealth and power as CEO of Rand Enterprises to help defeat The Hand.

The lobby is part of the Chase Bank building on Liberty Street, located in the Financial District of Manhattan. The offices may also have been shot at the same location, but that is not confirmed.
