There was a tenement on that block before Wilson Fisk swallowed it up in his Better Tomorrow initiative.

DAREDEVIL SEASON 2

Elektra tells Matt about a construction site at “44th and 11th,” which he immediately recognizes from a subplot with Nobu and Wilson Fisk in Season 1. Matt finds her on a nearby roof watching some trucks leave before they decide to venture inside, where they find a deep pit…and The Hand. They only escape due to perfect timing from Stick, who shows up at the beginning of the following episode.

The Midland Circle site is located at 308 North 7th Street in Williamsburg, just West of the BQE. The interiors are assumed to have also been filmed inside this building, which was undergoing renovation at the time of filming. Elektra is standing on the roof of 32B Havemeyer Street, just one block away.

THE DEFENDERS SEASON 1

At the end of episode 3, all the various Defenders manage to gather at this location due to their individual investigations. A fight ensues in the Penthouse hallway, which makes quite a mess (and leaves a lot of bodies). Matt realizes that Elektra has also been brought back to life as one of their adversaries. The finale of the series also occurs back at this location, resulting in a giant explosion that brings the building down on the unearthed cave (and Matt & Elektra) underneath. The In-Universe address of this high rise is 560 W 44th Street, New York, NY 10036.

The Atelier Condo building, in Hell’s Kitchen, served as the exteriors and partial interiors for the headquarters of The Hand. The Penthouse hallways and boardroom were all filmed on a soundstage.

A version of this building was seen under construction in a season 2 episode of Daredevil, where Matt and Elektra discover a nearly bottomless pit dug underneath the foundation (above). These are technically the same location, even though that sequence was filmed in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and looks nothing like the more chrome and glass location seen here.

The Penthouse Level

Due to the obvious stunt requirements, the penthouse level was filmed on a soundstage. Some designs of this area can be seen on Loren Weeks’s website.

The Hand’s Compound

While there’s no direct link that the scenes of Alexandra and the other Fingers of the Hand are living and meeting in Midland Circle, there’s really no other proper place that they would be. All the scenes of the Hand Boardroom, or Alexandra’s and Elektra’s quarters, all appear to have been filmed on a soundstage, which shares some architecture with the Penthouse location in the section above.
