First we drink, then we talk business.

In episode 3, Agents Hunter and May go undercover to infiltrate HYDRA and find a way to get close to Ward.

Irish Bar – Exterior

Hunter and May meet their contact, Spud, inside an Irish Bar in Allston, MA, which is a suburb of Boston just west of downtown.

In actuality, the exterior shot of the bar uses stock footage of Kincade’s Bar and Grill, 950 W Armitage Ave, Chicago.

Irish Bar – Interior

The interiors of the bar were a bit trickier. There are plenty of bars in the Los Angeles area, so it wasn’t until I spotted familiar elements of this bar in Episode 8, Season 2 of Netflix’s show Love, with Paul Rust and Gillian Jacobs, that I was able to uncover it fully. That episode provided some extra context of exterior elements, which helped pinpoint it as Joxer Daly’s at 11168 Washington Blvd in Culver City.

Undercover House

Hunter and May prepare their delivery of the advanced weaponry and their visit to the fight club. They spend some time discussing the plan inside this house, which looks very much like a real house, but could easily have been a set created at Culver Studios.

In episode 4, having made a good impression in the previous episode, Hunter gets the nod to move up the ranks of HYDRA.

Parking Garage

May and Hunter discuss next steps in a parking garage as Hunter prepares to go on his first visit to meet “the Boss” of HYDRA. At this time, it’s unclear which parking garage this may have been filmed in. This is the same garage that shows up as an airport garage in episode 12.

Back Alley

Kebo and another HYDRA agent pick up Hunter in a back alley. Note that Kebo’s car has Rhode Island license plates, which would not be too weird, especially if this is still a Boston suburb. This shot was filmed in the alley off Hennesy Street at Warner Bros. backlot.
