15th Precinct Police Station, New York | MCU: Location Scout

Exterior of 15th precinct at night.

Homicide. Female suspect at scene. Definitely qualifies as interesting.

New York’s 15th precinct is a location that spans all the shows in the Netflix universe. Like the scenes with Metro-General Hospital, a variety of real-world locations make up this fictional police precinct, with its multiple entrances, parking lots, and roof access.

DAREDEVIL SEASON 1

Exterior Driveway (Episode 1)

In the first episode of Daredevil, Brett stands just outside a driveway at the Precinct and lets our heroic lawyers know that Karen Page has been brought in on murder charges.

This quick insert shot was filmed at the exterior of the Broadway Stages on Henry Street in Brooklyn, where Daredevil (and the other Netflix shows) filmed. The distinctive square yellow pylon that is bent is a dead giveaway.

Interrogation Room & Cell (Episodes 1 & 3)

Karen is questioned in an interrogation room before being placed in a cell where Officer Farnum tries to strangle her. Later, Rance is found hanged–by apparent suicide in the same jail cell. These interior locations to the precinct appear to be part of the soundstage sets created for the show, and filmed at The Broadway Stages.

Entrance (Episode 4)

Matt and Foggy leave the 15th Precinct after visiting one of their clients. Foggy admits his parents wanted him to be a butcher. They walk up the street to the corner where Foggy catches a cab and Matt gets a frantic call from Claire.

The door they walk out of appears to be part of 25 N Moore Street, ROOM Furniture and Lighting. However, the blue doors they pass are part of the NYPD 1st Precinct, which is on Varick Street. The pair stands on the southeast corner of Varick and Beach to grab the taxi.

Booking Desk & Interior (Episode 5)

Matt visits Brett to discuss a case and overhears something shocking in the interrogation room. Later, when Detective Hoffman turns himself in, a cameo photo of Stan Lee can be seen behind Officer Mahoney. The booking desk and entrance to the precinct are one of the Broadway soundstages on North Henry Street.

Side Door (Daredevil Episode 5)

The Man in Black attacks Detective Blake, steals his phone, and breaks his arm at a side entrance to the 15th Precinct.

This location is behind the now-demolished Snapple Plant in Red Hook. It’s hard to see in the Google street-view, but the little shed, the door, with the sign above, are visible on the southwest side of this building.

Back Lot (Daredevil Episode 13)

Matt and Foggy bring Brett some more cigars for his mother and ask about corruption within the Precinct. Matt overhears two patrolmen discovering the location where Detective Hoffman is hiding. This sequence was filmed in a parking alley behind 6 Court Square East in Queens.

Entrance 2 (Episode 13)

During the Godfather-like montage, several crooked officers are led out of the Precinct by FBI agents as they clean house of the corrupt police. This set of doors is just past the back parking lot above. The production also used 6 Court Square East for this alternate entrance to the Precinct.

JESSICA JONES SEASON 1

Booking Desk, Interior, and Interrogation Room (Episodes 2, 7 & 10)

In Episode 7 of Jessica Jones, the titular hero comes into the station to confess to a crime and get locked up, but Kilgrave arrives and has a different set of plans for her. Shot in the Broadway Stages on North Henry Street, this sequence shows some of Greenpoint outside the windows, including the distinctive “silver egg” from the Newtown Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant. The Interrogation room was seen in Episodes 2 and 10, with Detective Clemons interviewing Jessica and Jeri Hogarth talking with Pam.

Entrance 2 (Episode 7)

Jessica leaves the 15th Precinct after her run-in with Kilgrave, running back to her apartment to find a gift he left for her. This exterior was filmed at 6 Court Square East location (the same location as in Daredevil Season 1 Episode 13), looking in the opposite direction. An awning that says Montessori Kids on it can be barely seen in the background on the right side of the frame.

Exterior Driveway (Episode 9)

Episode 9 of Jessica Jones has Detective Clemons getting a brief text alerting him to a crime that is occurring, while he stands outside this same “entrance” to the 15th Precinct that was seen in Daredevil Season 1 Episode 1

Back Lot 2 (Episode 13)

Jeri escorts Jessica out of the 15th Precinct, having gotten her released after the murder of Kilgrave. Jessica walks across the lot and hugs Trish.

This final appearance of the 15th Precinct in Jessica Jones Season 1 was filmed on Roosevelt Island, in the south/east indentation of the Coler-Goldwater Hospital, shown in the map below. This location usually plays hospitals, but the look of the building certainly fits the exteriors of the 15th precinct from previous episodes.

DAREDEVIL SEASON 2

Interior (Episodes 2 & 13)

The interiors of the 15th precinct do not make as many appearances this season, though the Booking Desk area does show up in two episodes. The first appearance includes Foggy and Karen meeting District Attorney Reyes. At the end of the season, Foggy shows up just before Brett gets a visit from old Hornhead.

Interrogation Room (Episodes 2 & 11)

The interrogation room of the 15th is seen twice this season. Once, when Grotto is being questioned by DA Reyes, and later when Brett interviews Karen about being “attacked” by the Punisher. This room, like in the previous seasons, was part of the Broadway Stages.

Entrance 3 (Episode 11)

Karen is escorted out of the 15th by officers who have put her in protective custody. Matt finds her outside the station and argues with her about putting herself at risk. Sharp-eyed viewers may also have noticed the In-Universe address for the 15th Precinct as “311 W 37th Street.”

A third entrance to the precinct makes its debut, just outside 46-24 28th St, in Long Island City.

Fire Escape (Episode 13)

Brett notices the outside door is unlocked and walks onto the fire escape, where he meets Daredevil. The detective lets the man in red know that the Precinct had a number of files stolen, specifically anyone that had been saved by Daredevil.

The rooftop and fire escape at 417 5th Avenue were used as the location for this sequence. The green roof of Tower 40 (just behind Matt’s head below) was instrumental in locating this building. This location’s rooftop also served as the place where Elektra and Daredevil surveilled the city a few scenes later.
