The introduction to this church, seen throughout the series, is the dead body of Shameek Smith dumped in the gutter out front. It makes a big appearance in Episode 5, as the location for Pop’s Memorial Service. Its final brief appearance in the season is outside Shade’s car, just before he and Mariah head to Pop’s Barber Shop to parley with Luke.

The real Mt Olivet Baptist Church, at the corner of Malcolm X and W 120th Street, was the filming location for scenes in the first season of Luke Cage.
