So you wanna tell me how a pro bono lawyer can afford a loft like this in New York City?
DAREDEVIL SEASONS 1 & 2
Interiors
Matt Murdock’s apartment appears in almost every episode of the Netflix series. His loft apartment, with easy roof access and a giant illuminated billboard outside the window, is meant to be a building in Hell’s Kitchen. The location in reality is one of the few soundstage locations for the series. His apartment set was created by production designer Loren Weeks and can be seen at their website.
DAREDEVIL SEASON 2
Exterior (Episode 4, 8 & 11)
In Season 2, episode 4, after leaving Josie’s Bar in the rain, Matt and Karen walk back to Matt’s apartment, where they share a tender moment.
This location appears again in episode 8, sans rain, as Stick leaves just before Matt returns–while a Hand Ninja watches everything from a rooftop across the street. Episode 11 has Matt exiting his apartment just as a member of The Chaste crashes a car, warning Matt that Elektra is heading to kill Stick.
This is the first exterior shot of Matt’s apartment in the series, having only been seen in interiors up to this point. Being that this scene occurs at night and in the rain, I was doubtful of finding it. The only clue to go on was the “Dead End” signs in the background. Focusing on the Greenpoint area of Brooklyn, primarily for its brick buildings, soon led to this location at 37 Greenpoint Avenue (also, scenes from the other episodes helped).

Exterior (Episode 6)
A quick exterior shot in Episode 6 provides a transition from Matt in the Limo with Elektra to finding Foggy in the hall outside his apartment.
If the location above was difficult, this one was impossible. A dark night where the camera pans up the side of a corner building, with only the silhouettes from a couple of lit windows to help. The Greenpoint area once again seemed like a good choice, but buildings were either too tall or the windows were not the correct shape. That’s when I noticed the bus pulling away. Realizing that this shot was probably filmed without traffic control, and that the bus was most likely an actual bus driving past that corner, I set out looking for the route of the Q59 bus, which led right past 143 Roebling Street, the building in question!

Rooftop (Episode 13)
The finale of Season 2 opens with Elektra surveying the city from Matt’s rooftop. This location on top of 247 Centre Street across from the dome of the Police Building, would become the de facto location for Matt’s rooftop through the rest of his appearances in The Defenders and Season 3.
THE DEFENDERS SEASON 1
In episode 2, Matt surveys the city from his rooftop after an earthquake, racing across it to stop an angry store owner from killing some kids. In episode 5, Elektra strikes a similar pose to the one she did in Daredevil Season 2, episode 13 before entering Matt’s apartment. These are the same location as used in Daredevil season 2, 247 Centre Street.
DAREDEVIL SEASON 3
At the end of episode 5 from this season, Matt is seen hiding from the FBI on his roof. This was also filmed at the same rooftop used in Season 2 and in The Defenders.
