Peggy gets word that one of Stark’s inventions is being sold to the owner of a local club called La Martinique. The production is paying homage to a real, and popular, nightclub in New York City during the 1940s. The real version of the club was located in a basement at 57 West 57th Street.

The New York street on the Warner Bros. backlot served as several locations for the first season of Agent Carter, including the exteriors of La Martinique. The image above is the shot from the aired television episode, while the one immediately below is a behind-the-scenes version prior to visual effects.

While the exteriors were shot on the Warner Bros. backlot, the interior of Spider Raymond’s club was actually the famed Ebell of Los Angeles, a location that was also used for Agents of SHIELD as Greenwich University.
