Establishing Shot

A piece of aerial stock footage establishes the location as the University of Ohio. Unfortunately, there is no “University of Ohio,” only Ohio State University and Ohio University. Additionally, this stock footage is of Marietta, Ohio. Close enough, right?

Ward and Coulson arrive in Ohio and drive Lola to the University in order to find Laura Hayward, the sister of a suspected terrorist who helped break Edison Po out of prison.

Scenes of the SHIELD Agents riding in the cherry-red 1962 Chevrolet Corvette were filmed in Culver City, mostly along Barman Avenue heading northeast (the house with the red door is 10829 Barman). But some footage, including the background behind Ward in the first shot, was filmed one street over on Linblade Avenue at Coombs Street.

At the campus, Ward finds Laura Hayward under the guise of a lottery official trying to reach her brother.

Occidental College often stands in for institutions of higher learning on TV shows. This episode is no exception. The production shot Ward’s interaction with Laura between Johnson Hall & Fowler Hall, with Coulson parked outside Swan Hall. In fact, the words “James Swan Hall” can be seen on the building behind Coulson.
