It’s an early morning in the city by the bay.
Shaun walks to Katy’s apartment and sees several businesses in the Richmond District getting ready for the day. He enters a door marked #817, next to advertisements for Post-Blip Anxiety.
The Gourmet Dim Sum & Cafe is an actual business at 651 Clement Street in the Richmond District of San Francisco. A subsequent shot shows grocer’s putting out their fruits and vegetables across the street at the Richmond New May Wah Supermarket at 707 Clement St.

The scenes of Shaun walking down the street and entering Katy’s apartment were shot in Chinatown, but not San Francisco’s Chinatown. Much like the ending of Ant-Man, Loa Angeles’s Chinatown stood in for the San Francisco version. This was filmed on North Broadway in Los Angeles, with the plant shop and alley Shaun passes at 813 N. Broadway and Katy’s front door at 817 N. Broadway. A fake wall covered with flyers about Blip support groups was used to hide the alleyway next to the front door.
