It looked like a man, but completely covered in silver, and it flew this, like surfboard-type thing.
As the Silver Surfer disrupts Reed and Sue’s wedding, Johnny “flames on” and races after the herald of Galactus.
The first building they encounter is the Chrysler Building in Midtown East Manhattan.

The Surfer then cruises down the wave-like structure of the Grace Building on W 42nd Street in Manhattan. Johnny follows and as he flies above cars below they flip over. While the footage of the building is based on imagery of the real Grace Building in New York, the street sequence was filmed around 1055 W Hastings Street in Vancouver with the Grace Building added in post.

The Surfer then zips into the Lincoln Tunnel at the Weehawken entrance. He cruises through the tunnel and out the other side–which is also the Weehawken entrance.

The Torch chases the Surfer over Raritan Bay, south past Long Island.

Then, miraculously, the two combatants are suddenly in Washington, DC.

From there the Surfer takes Johnny up into the atmosphere where his flame burns out and he plummets back towards the Earth. He crashes into a sand dune, igniting a tent belonging to a couple of Bedouins. This is reportedly a background plate from Dumont Dunes in California (just west of Las Vegas), which is a filming location mentioned at IMDb and by a forum user on DumontDunesRiders.com. The actors by the tent were presumably filmed in Vancouver on the same small set used for Giza in the films opening.
