At the end of episode 1, Danny is admitted into Birch Psychiatric Hospital against his will. In the following episode, he struggles to convince the doctor who he really is and eventually escapes when he is able to once again summon the power of the Iron Fist. In episode 9, Ward ends up being committed here as well.

The interior of the psychiatric hospital was filmed at one of the Broadway Stages locations, potentially the 29th Street location in Long Island City used for the exterior, below. Many hospital locations from the first seasons of Luke Cage and Iron Fist have the same grey and white checkerboard floor, and can be traced to this same filming location.

Exterior

A brief exterior shot establishes the Birch Psychiatric Hospital. In reality, the piece of stock footage is actually the old Brooklyn House of Detention, at 275 Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn. The shot was taken from the State Street side of the building. The building has since been torn down, sometime after May 2022.

The interior of the facility appears to be a real location, but not one that has been discovered.
