General Hale’s Base, Appalachia | MCU Location Scout

It’s a decommissioned military bunker, which means it’s highly secure and way off the grid.

First introduced in episode 11, Hale’s base is sparingly seen. Only Ruby’s teenage room and a nondescript hallway are shown. Later episodes feature the abduction of Alex Braun (aka Werner von Strucker), General Talbot, and Phil Coulson as they explore the base.

The interiors for Hale’s base were filmed on the soundstages of Culver Studios.

In episode 15, a flashback to 1990 reveals that this base was once the HYDRA Preparatory Academy, and that young Hale graduated from it. These flashbacks are just a redressed version of the modern-day set above.
