Episode 1
The first image of Chicago looks west past the Chicago Harbor Lighthouse, over Lake Michigan, and into downtown Chicago.

An L train passes by on a bridge at dusk. It’s hard to make out in this shot, but an extended daytime shot appears in the next episode, leading to the discovery that this was filmed on Lincoln Street at Ridge Avenue.

This nighttime shot of downtown Chicago is centered on the Park Hyatt, with the John Hancock Center (875 North Michigan Avenue) as the tallest building on the left, filmed from somewhere near Wicker Park, looking southeast.

Episode 2
The title card for episode 2 features an L train passing the camera with a whip-pan to a street sign, labeled “S Ironheart Av”.
It took a while to find this location, which is located on W. Homer Street outside JC Auto Repair in Chicago. An establishing shot in episode 3 looks at this same location from a different perspective.

This aerial shot of downtown served as the introduction to Joe’s house in the Chicago suburb of Evanston. It was filmed over the intersection of Greenleaf Street and Chicago Avenue, looking south. The Trader Joe’s on Chicago Avenue can be seen in the lower right.

Episode 3
Episode 3 opens with several shots of various locations around Chicago.
The first image is the “Black and Brown” mural on the wall outside Leon’s Bar-B-Q, which is now, unfortunately, no longer in existence.

The next image is outside Harold’s Chicken at 407 E 75th Street.

A high-angle shot overlooking W North Avenue, at N Milwaukee Avenue, in Wicker Park features one of several billboards for Arthur Robbins’ Artworlds, a person who features prominantly in episode 5.

A shot of downtown focuses on the skyscrapers and Chicago River as seen from the corner of W Wacker Drive and N Franklin Street.

Finally, there’s a shot of the city’s famous Adler Planetarium.

This establishing shot of a passing L train was filmed at the same location as the title card from Episode 2, above. It is looking at the tracks crossing over W. Homer Street outside JC Auto Repair in Chicago.

As Riri flies towards Heirlum Biotechnologies, located in the middle of Lake Michigan, the following nighttime scene of downtown Chicago is shown, including the diamond lighting on the Smurfit-Stone Building.

The episode ends with a thunderstorm rolling in over the city, as seen over the rail tracks near W Augusta Boulevard and N Willard Court. An Audi dealer can be seen in the center-left of the image between lightning flashes.

Riri flies north towards downtown with State Street on the right and Interstate 90 on the left.
