Alias Investigations. How can we help?
JESSICA JONES SEASON 1
EXTERIOR
The filming style for this series and the lack of a prominent sign outside the building might make it difficult to realize that this particular structure is the building that houses Alias Investigations.
The production chose a building on W 101st Street at the corner of Broadway as Jessica’s apartment and office building for the exteriors of Season 1. The second season would establish a new exterior for her offices.
Stairwell and Lobby
The stairwell and lobby shots seen in episodes 1 & 2 were also shot in the same building as the exterior, on 101st Street.
Street Outside Building
In episode 2, Trish meets Jessica outside the building (just a bit further East, by the building alley). Then, in episode 3, Jessica witnesses Malcolm get hit by a cyclist and helps him out.

Jessica Jones’s Office, 5F
The hallway outside Jessica’s apartment and her office was created on a soundstage. Jessica’s office is 5F, given that Ruben and Robyn’s apartment (just above her) is 6F. The sign in Jessica’s window, as seen in episode 3, says “Alias Investigations, 5th Floor.”
Ruben and Robyn’s Apartment, 6F
Presumably, the hallway outside Ruben and Robyn’s apartment was a redressing of the hallway outside Jessica’s apartment.
Malcolm Ducasse’s Apartment, 5D
In Episode 3, Jessica helps Ruben get Malcolm safely back to his apartment, which is shown as 5D.
Episode 13 provides the In-Universe street address for the building as 485 W 46th St, New York, NY 10036, as seen on Jessica’s business card. This would put her squarely inside Hell’s Kitchen.
THE DEFENDERS SEASON 1
The Defenders series also features Jessica’s building and office in several episodes. Most of the scenes take place in Jessica’s still-destroyed office, but Episode 2 features Jessica running through the lobby and out the front door, where Misty Knight happens to be standing to take Jessica into custody.
JESSICA JONES SEASON 2
Exterior
Season 2 opted to establish a new exterior to Jessica’s building. The reason is probably related to the increased amount of exterior filming that was needed for this season, but there could be other factors involved as well. Major exterior scenes include: Jessica chasing the Whizzer (episode 1), Jessica returning home the next morning after a night of drinking (episode 3), Jessica’s arrest by the police (episode 4), Jessica looking for her mom (episode 8), Oscar taking out the trash and discovering broken glass and Alisa’s arrest (episode 9), and Alisa’s RV parked outside the building (episode 12).
This new exterior is located at 180 Claremont Avenue in Morningside Heights, about 2 miles north of the 101st Street location used in the first season. In some scenes where a street sign is visible, the text for LaSalle has been replaced by 9th Ave, the major street just west of Jessica’s In-Universe address on W 46th Street.

Interior Hallway
In episode 1, Jessica tries to catch up to Pryce Cheng, but is blocked by the new superintendent, Oscar, moving into the building.
This quick sequence with the building’s stairs and hallway is presumed to have also been filmed in the Morningside Heights location. All other hallway shots take place on the set built on soundstages.
Jessica Jones’s Apartment, 5F
As with season 1, Jessica occupies apartment 5F, and her In-Universe address is confirmed (by an eviction notice) as 485 W 46th St, New York, NY 10036.
Jessica’s apartment, hallway, and all the other interior rooms shown in the building are sets created on the soundstages of Broadway Stages.
Oscar Arocho’s Apartment, 6F
Oscar and his son Vido have moved in upstairs from Jessica, into Robyn and Ruben’s old apartment. Jessica does a little light B&E into the apartment in episode 3, and ends up having a friend with benefits in episode 6.
Malcolm Ducasse’s Apartment, 5D
The interior of Malcolm’s apartment is shown this season for the first time.
