Claire Temple Apartment | MCU: Location Scout

Alley outside Claire's apartment.

I’m the lucky girl who pulled you out of the garbage.

Alley

Santino discovers a bleeding Matt Murdock in the dumpster outside his apartment and gets Claire to help. They carry him inside.

While all locations in Daredevil are filmed in the New York area, the large number of alleyways in the boroughs makes it decidedly difficult to pinpoint specific ones, especially at night. So until some lucky incident reveals the location of this alley, it will remain unknown.

Interiors

Claire brings Matt into her apartment to patch him up. A police detective visits, but isn’t who he appears to be, so Matt follows him into the hall and drops a fire extinguisher down the stairwell, knocking him out. In episode 4, two Russian mobsters return looking for the night nurse.

While the interiors of Claire’s apartment itself (number 19) could easily be a soundstage location, the hallway and stairwell seem to point to a more substantial location in New York, which at this point is unknown.

Rooftop

Matt decides to take “Detective Foster” up to the roof for some interrogation. He gets the information he needs to save the child.

The production filmed on a real roof in New York City for this sequence. It is part of Gary’s Loft–a group of filming locations in a building on W 36th Street. Using the surrounding buildings as a guide (the H&M building in the final image was very helpful), the general area was discovered. It was then that a link to Gary’s Loft was found, which provides ample photo evidence of the location.
