Lucy’s Cafe | MCU: Location Scout

Hello, Raina. I’m Daniel Whitehall. You recently took something from me.

Raina exits a cafe on the phone, trying to book a flight to Miami after reading about the miracle painting in the newspaper. She is abducted by Daniel Whitehall, who makes her an offer she can’t refuse. The In-Universe location for this cafe is most likely Washington, DC, as that was the place she was last seen in episode 2, “Heavy is the Head.”

This was a tough location to track down. The window layout and handles on the doors made it evident that it was the same location used as the Italian Cafe, where Coulson speaks to an Italian official in S01E13 “TRACKS.” In the image above, there’s a sign on the door which could have been a prop, but was worth investigating. It turned out to be an advertisement about ordering online for Lucy’s Cafe, with a URL: lucysculverstudios.com.

This URL no longer works, but checking The Wayback Machine, it was a valid URL for the commissary at Culver Studios in 2014, when this episode was filmed. An article in LAMag talked about its replacement restaurant, Homegirl Cafe, and included a picture below, which matches the elements seen in both this episode and the previous one.
