Establishing Shots, Hells Kitchen | MCU Location Scout

View of New York City skyline.

If you can’t stand the heat, stay out of Daredevil’s way!

Various aerial shots of New York City buildings appear throughout the film, hoping to remind audiences that the majority of the production wasn’t filmed in Los Angeles.

I’m not even sure what’s real about this opening shot of the film, supposedly seen in a reflection of water in Hell’s Kitchen, outside Matt’s church. It focuses on the Chrysler building in Midtown, but the MetLife building is shown as much shorter. The digital artists definitely took their liberties in creating this shot.

This tracking shot shows the Cathedral of St. John the Divine at 1047 Amsterdam Ave, in Morningside Heights. The buildings in front are located on Riverside Drive facing the Hudson River.

This image of brick colored buildings (and the one at the top of the page) are from the same shot, which dissolves into the next location. These are also buildings along Riverside Drive, facing the Hudson. The building in the center is 11 Riverside Dr, at the southern end of the Upper West Side.

This image is part of a sequence that dissolves from the location above. These buildings are the backs of buildings on West End Avenue around W 99th Street. The tall black building appears to be the Mount Sinai Hospital Annenberg Building, on the far side of Central Park.

This quick shot of Times Square is used in the film to transition from the Grand Hotel party to the Natchios’ Limo being attacked by Bullseye.

After the death of Nikolas Natchios, the camera flies along this street looking straight down. This is southbound on 6th Avenue at W 53rd Street.

This footage, which begins the ending of the film, is again Morningside Heights, focusing on the Riverside Church.
