A flashback shows Joseph and Lucy Bauer breaking into a dark storm cellar under a house where they discover the mystical book, the Darkhold.

According to Agents of SHIELD Season Four Declassified, this cellar was built on the Culver Studios soundstages. It had a small section excavated so that the book could be buried under the floor. There were several Easter Eggs hidden on set that spoke to the lore of Ghost Rider, including the Quentin Carnival poster and motorcycle parts.
