Now, this may come as a bit of a surprise to you, Matthew but we are open on Sundays.
The film opens with Daredevil, bleeding and bruised, arriving at the church before going into flashbacks. Matt is seen coming into the church to speak with Father Everett (named after Daredevil co-creator Bill Everett), midway through. The film’s climax takes place inside the church with Bullseye fighting Daredevil before being flung out a stained glass window by the Man Without Fear.
Exterior
The exteriors are not based on any one church in particular, but certain similar design principles may be found in churches both in Los Angeles and New York. From all appearances, the exterior appears to be a facade erected at the Paramount Studios backlot. The crane up across the front of the church that is the opening minutes of the film appears to also utilize several digital extensions to make the church facade seem taller than it was.
The backlot aspects of the church are more evident in the final moments when the police arrive, and Bullseye is tossed from the building.

This is an overview of the New York street filming locations on Paramount’s Backlot. A) Church of the Holy Innocents, B) Street outside Josie’s Bar, C) Subway Entrance, D) Matt & Foggy on street, E) Exterior of Lisa Tazio’s Apartment, F) New York Post building.

Interior
The interiors were filmed at the First Congregational Church of Los Angeles. Behind the scenes video shows expansive green screens erected at both the front and rear of the building in order for the visual effects team to make the church seem taller.
According to Cinefex 93, the “practical interiors [were] shot in a Los Angeles cathedral and a partial pipe organ set” which was reportedly filmed at Downey Studios. The design of the Cathedral is loosely based on St Patrick’s in New York, of which LIDAR scans were made of the inside for reference.
