On the day before I left, we had a picnic.

In a flashback, Dr. Ivchenko, aka Dr. Fennhoff, uses his hypnotic powers to make a young soldier’s last moments bearable. He has the young man imagine he is by a lake with his mother.

This lake and the woods surrounding it were filmed by Pine Lake at the Golden Oak Ranch. This is a second and smaller lake on the property after Old Lake, which contains a cabin (as seen in Season 2 of Agents of SHIELD).
