The location of the particle accelerator building is the old Kimberlina Power Plant in Santa Clarita, CA. Also of note, the other two agents behind FitzSimmons bear a striking similarity to Mulder and Scully from The X-Files. Since the premise of this episode has to do with a woman with psychic powers, this was probably the production’s nod to that groundbreaking series.
