City, Counter-Earth | MCU Location Scout

The Bowie flies above Counter-Earth city and harbor.

That looks just like…home.

Ina search for information to save their friend Rocket, Peter and the Guardians arrive at Counter-Earth, a near duplicate of Earth, except with strange human/animal hybrids created by the High Evolutionary.

According to VFX supervisor Guy Williams from Weta FX, the look of the city surrounding Arete Laboratories was based on Seattle. This can be seen with the cranes and harbor buildings on the right side of frame during The Bowie’s approach. In addition the domed building (and the freeway) behind the High evolutionary statue in the close-ups resembles Lumen Field, the home of the Seahawks football team.

The island in the harbor with the statue of the High Evolutionary holding the monkey is obviously based on the Statue of Liberty and Liberty Island in the waters just off New York City.
