Wanda’s Mountain Retreat | MCU Location Scout

A snowy alpine mountain by a lake.

Sometimes you just need to get away from it all.

After the events in Westview, NJ, Wanda retreats to a secluded cabin to make more sense about what she has been through.

There are three distinct parts to this sequence. The first is a fade in shot as the camera climbs over a mountain (below). This appears to be a stock shot looking at Carson Peak in the Sierra Nevada mountains in California. The map below shows the peak that appears to be in the foreground as it looks northeast towards Carson Peak.

The second shot of the camera racing across the lake is also stock footage. This is from the mouth of Bettles Bay in Port Wells, Alaska, looking south.

Finally, the camera races across another lake, closing in on Wanda’s cabin, which was digitally inserted. This is also a shot of Carson Peak with camera zooming over Silver Lake. The image is flopped left to right in the final show.

Two versions of this scene exist. The first, from the initial release (first and third images) shows a larger cabin with less trees around it. It was altered to have more trees and a cabin that was more in scale with the surroundings.
