Even though Peter has no money, he chooses to live in a crummy apartment on his own where Mr Ditkovich (an homage to Steve Ditko, the co-creator of Spider-Man) is constantly harassing him for the rent.
The exterior shot of the building that Peter lives in is 187 Christie Street in New York. The interiors of the apartment were shot on the Sony soundstages.
