Two men accost a third man in the 168 Subway Station.

Hey! You’re beatin’ on a guy who can’t defend himself.

Hector Ayala enters the subway station to see two men (later revealed as undercover cops) beating Nicky Torres. Hector tries to stop them, and Officer Shanahan gets hit by a passing train.

This seems like they might have filmed this sequence in the real 168th Street Station, based on the imagery that I’ve been able to find. But that is not the case! According to this article from the New York Post, a disused platform in the Bowery Station (under Delancey Street) now hosts film and television productions such as Orange Is the New Black, Mr. Robot, and the remake of West Side Story.
