The approach to Subterranea’s entrance is stock photography outside the Lincoln Tunnel, based on progression images by Base FX, the company that worked on the visual effects in this sequence.

The interior of the Mole Man’s lair was filmed at the Middleton Mine in Matlock, Derbyshire. This disused mine was the perfect underground location for depicting the subterranean world seen in the comics.
