Johnny, you have the potential and the IQ to do so much more.
Johnny Storm has a fire in his veins that he seeks to quell by disobeying his father and taking unnecessary risks. Unfortunately, his ego is writing checks that his body, nor his car, can cash.
Parking Lot
Johnny pulls into a parking lot for a scheduled race with some other locals. But his vehicle has other plans as it conks out seconds after the race starts. This location is the second appearance of the Earl K Long Medical Center in the film. Johnny’s race past the long warehouse building is still standing at this otherwise demolished site. His exit out of the lot depicts, briefly, an apartment complex which can be seen in the Street View below of Quida Mae Drive.

Road
Johnny and the other racing cars weave in and around other traffic in a tapestry of recklessness. Johnny narrowly avoids hitting another car along Blount Road at Veterans Memorial Boulevard.

Crash Site
Pulling up alongside the race leader, Johnny gives him a quick “bye-bye” and kicks in his afterburner–which provides too much power, and he crashes into a stop sign, ending his racing career for now. The race concludes along Celtic Drive (passing the film studios on the right) and Professional Boulevard, where Johnny crashes.
