Drivemax | MCU Location Scout

Technically, the Carnival’s not a minivan. It’s an MPV.

Having hung up his superhero costume Wade, along with Peter, works at the used car facility Drivemax.

This is the weirdest location to find out of any MCU location. This used car facility is obviously a reference to CarMax, a US based used car superstore. The building in the background is totally a Home Depot, recognizable even without its name on the building.

Since the production filmed in the UK, and CarMax and Home Depot are not stores in the London area, that meant this was filmed stateside–or was it? Checking all Home Depot and CarMax’s in the Atlanta area yielded no specific matches. Ditto for Los Angeles. It was then that I discovered that the opening image (above) is a piece of stock footage filmed in Houston, TX. It’s been digitally altered to remove the CarMax and Home Depot logos, but the cars in the lot are a 100% match. And that’s how an MCU film came to have a shot in Houston!

The shots of Peter and the family in the parking lot were most likely filmed against a green screen somewhere on the backlot of Pinewood Studios, as they were definitely not filmed in Houston.
